In the long run
2025

‘’In the long run’’ is a performative exercise.

A 20 metre long woven cloth off the loom rolled at one end of the racetrack.

Entering a racetrack, unfolding slowly in a kneeling position, contradicting the location’s purpose, energy, high speed, and adrenaline fuelled drama.

The exercise is deliberate, meditative, beginning the unfolding of the cloth on a straight section of the track avoiding any elevations and the tracks chicanes only few meters from the run-off Area.

The action is slow, requiring physical effort, precision, pulling, unravelling, adjusting the cloth inch by inch. The act of laying the cloth, becomes a slow reading, a slowness of comprehension, a thought held for too long, split time is of no importance.

The repetitive, tactile process reflects the weaver’s preoccupation with gesture in its fabrication.

The moment the full length of the cloth is laid out nothing more is left to record.

When the thought is finally understood nor resisted action becomes effortless, aligned.
